The Alberta Tennis Centre U12/14/16 Junior Challenger event was Calgary’s first outdoor event of the season. The 78 junior players participating experienced a typical Calgary spring. Temperatures reached +25 on Saturday and dropped down to +6 with wind on Sunday prompting quick changes from sunscreen to sweats and hoodies the following day. Nonetheless, the juniors certainly enjoyed their chance to take their game outside.

Event surprises included BFFs battling each other for a spot in the final and an unseeded Joshua Copithorne capturing the U14 Boys title.

The event crowned their champions for this year as follows:

U12 Boys – Andrei Robert Alpopi

U12 Girls – Morgan Tuffs

U14 Boys – Joshua Copithorne

U14 Girls – Emily Niers

U16 Boys – Brandon Lin
