PlayCity Tennis Festivals

PlayCity Tennis Festivals are a fantastic opportunity for tennis communities across Alberta to host fun, themed learn and play opportunities for local players.

The PlayCity Tennis Festivals are a great way to encourage players of all ages and levels to connect with each other, and get on the courts more often to play tennis. Bringing people together through sports and physical activity is at the heart of PlayCity’s mission.

Find out more about PlayCity.

The PlayCity Tennis Festivals program was piloted at the community of Cold Lake in 2017 with incredible success bringing in both juniors and adults alike connecting players both within the City of Cold Lake and the surrounding Lakeland communities.

The first theme of the inaugural year of this program will highlight the Davis Cup World Group Playoff match between Canada and India which will take place in Edmonton on September 15-17, 2017. The theme of this festival series planned to take place in over 30 communities across Alberta will encourage participants to join in the excitement by wearing red and white and learning about the Davis Cup through team tennis. Attendants to the festivals will have the opportunity to enter an exclusive draw for tickets and accommodations to the Davis Cup in Edmonton.

2017 PlayCity Tennis Festivals

The 2017 festival calendar has been confirmed, this year there will be two festival packs available to communities, with themed, fun prizes and resources to help you run your festival(s). From 2018 moving forward there will be four themes available per calendar year.

To make it easier to take part you can now sign up for all 2017 festivals at once, simply check your club calendar to decide which festivals you are going to run and then select the packs you require in the sign-up form.

The themes for the 2017 festivals are;

  • Davis Cup Canada vs India  – celebrate the return of the Davis Cup to Alberta after 9 years by running a Team Canada themed festival at your venue between  July  or February
  • Monster Smash – spooky but fun! An opportunity for ghouls, witches and skeletons to take to the court in October or November to celebrate Halloween
