Congratulations to the Saville Tennis Centre for winning the 2017 Under 10 TDC Cup on October 14th and 15th at the Osten & Victor Alberta Tennis Centre in Calgary. The TDC Cup ran for the first time last year and is a team event presented by Tennis Canada. All of the Tennis Development Centres in the province send a team to compete in the event, which consists of timed matches. Each team is made up of two boys and two girls who compete in singles and doubles matches. The scoring is totalled by adding up all games won by each team, ensuring that all players have a chance to make an impact whether they win or lose their individual matches. Saturday night included a social, with dinner provided for all players.

Below are the TDC’s which competed this past weekend, along with the top results:

– Alberta Tennis Centre – Third Place

– Calgary Winter Club

– Royal Glenora Club – Second Place

– Saville Tennis Centre – First Place

– The Tennis Academy

The Tennis Development Centre program is a “support program” funded by Tennis Canada designed to work with junior competitive development programs across the country. The TDC program is a key component of the overall player development plan of Tennis Canada and its mission of developing world class players. The TDC Program is the key means of how Tennis Canada both works with and supports year-round junior development programs across Canada. The program annually rewards indoor clubs/academy’s meeting program requirements and player results with benefits and services. The program requirements are tied into Tennis Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Model.
