This program is part of the Game.Set.Equity. initiative to promote women’s participation in tennis. This program will allow girls to develop the skills and qualities to confidently lead beginner tennis programs, with either children or adults.
Being a tennis instructor is an amazing job where you can earn great money, stay active, and get involved in the sport you love, and this program is a foot in the door.
Programming
The 42.5-hour training program will be administered in two ways:
- Instructor Course: September 13-15 and September 20-22 at Calgary Tennis Club, 1445 16 St SW, Calgary. (35 hours total).
- Sunday Leadership Webinars: October 6, 20, November 3, 17, December 1, 2024 (7.5 hours total).
Who can participate in this program?
- Young women, 14 – 17 years old.
- Minimum Playing Level: 3.0
- No minimum certification requirements

- Ability to demonstrate fundamental tennis skills
- How to lead and manage a large group of players
- How to lead tennis tournaments and play activities as a court captain
- Safe sport training
- How to engage in job interview and networking opportunities

What you will earn (certification)
Successful participants will receive:
- Game.Set.Equity. Girls Leadership Program completion certificate.
- Official Tennis Instructors Certification as part of the Tennis Professionals Association (TPA) and the Coaching Association of Canadian & Provincial Association (CAC)*
*Participants aged 14 and 15 will earn the Community Leader “trained” certificate at the end of the Instructor Course. If meeting all requirements, the “Tennis Instructor” certification will be awarded to them on their 16th birthday.
