VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering in tennis is fun and rewarding, helping people from all walks of life play this amazing sport. Whether you play or not, there are many ways to get involved, from assisting at events to supporting your local club.
Getting started
Consider what you want to gain from volunteering—boosting your CV, meeting new people, or giving back. Or maybe it’s strictly for karma and good vibes. Understanding your motivations will help you find the right role.
Volunteering at a tennis FACILITY
The majority of tennis facilities couldn’t run without volunteer support, and there’s almost certainly a way you can get involved, however much time you have to give. From supporting club events to helping with marketing and local promotion, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
If you’re already a member at a facility, ask the volunteer coordinator, secretary, or board members how you contribute. If you’re not sure where you can help out, email info@tennisalberta.com and we’ll offer some suggestions. Remember – you do not need to play tennis or be a member to volunteer.
Volunteering at Major Events
There are exciting opportunities to volunteer at many of the major tennis events in Alberta – such as the Calgary National Bank Challenger and the Alberta Open. Such events rely on volunteer support and provide a fantastic way to cheer on the Canadians from the tramlines!
Opportunities to volunteer at these events are usually advertised on the Tennis Alberta website three to four months before each event.
