Over the summer months, Tennis Alberta spearheaded several Try Tennis Festival events. Try Tennis Festival events were delivered with local tennis organizations, Edmonton Junior Tennis Society and Tennis Edmonton. Sessions offered free introductory lessons to over 150 starter junior players between 4-15 years of age.
These events offered opportunities for starter players to sample the sport through a sequence of games and skill challenges. Participants, in addition to learning new skills, had the opportunity to make new friends and win prizes including tennis racquets, t-shirts, water bottles, towels and more.
Tennis Alberta looks forward to continued collaboration with our partners across the province as the association plans for the delivery of several Try Tennis activities in the fall and winter of 2021/2022 and beyond.
Throughout the summer months two Instructor courses were held in Calgary and Edmonton. Instructor courses are the first stage of Tennis Canada’s certification program, and equip candidates with the skills and knowledge to successfully deliver progressive tennis sessions at the community, parks and school levels.
Thank you to course facilitators Ryan Schroffel, Nick Couttsand Suzana Calvacante for their assistance in delivering these courses. A special thanks to all course participants and congratulations to those who are now Tennis Canada certified instructors.
Tennis Alberta will be hosting another Instructor course in late September/early October of 2021 (dates to be confirmed). For further course information or to register, please contact email@example.com.
