Are you ready to head south for an authentic Taste of Tennis this summer?

Taste of Tennis is an incredible event that blends a fabulous red-carpet show with a celebration of two things that always pair well: tennis and food! Attendees get the rare opportunity to sample food from celebrity chefs, prepared and served by world-class tennis players. You’ve never seen a pre-game event quite like this.

Similar to “Taste of Edmonton”, this event features elite restaurants showcasing their amazing gourmet delights. You’ll want to get dressed up though, because you’ll be brushing elbows with some serious celebrities from the culinary arts and tennis world.

Heading to Taste of Tennis means a trip across the border to visit our neighbours down south. It’s well worth the journey though, because these tasty events are only a warmup for major tennis events like the US Open in New York. Plus, your attendance helps aid amazing charities working to alleviate food scarcity.

For the first time ever, Taste of Tennis is coming to Washington, DC is on July 30th to kick off the Citi Open. If you want to lock down your tickets now, grab them here on Eventbrite.

You can also keep an eye on the other Taste of Tennis events:

  • New York – a multi-day event that kicks off the US Open
  • Indian Wells – the second newest Taste of Tennis location
  • Miami – a poolside party with all the beach vibes

Since 2000, Taste of Tennis has drawn on some of the world’s greatest culinary talents. Past chefs have included the likes of Morimoto, Marc Ancic, and Andy Roddick.

Meanwhile, players swap their racquets for spatulas and learn the in’s and out’s of the culinary arts. This is probably one of the only places you can get more than a court-side glimpse of players like Eugenie Bouchard, Victoria Azarenka, and Alexander Zverev. Ever wondered what it would be like to be in the same room as Gardenia Margoruza as she casually whips up a gourmet Monte Cristo sandwich? (she really loves her ham!)

If you can’t make it out to the event, you’ll at least want a little inspiration for your own kitchen. Follow Taste of Tennis on Facebook to check out the events and see what the stars are whipping up.

Of course, more than a few of the tennis kings and queens spotted at Taste of Tennis admit that they’re a little short on time in the kitchen. If that’s the case for you too, you can order fresh-prepared meals like the Spicy Salmon Bowl from MealKraft. This rice bowl of tender salmon, edamame beans, and fresh vegetables finishes well with a little kick of house-made spicy mayo.

Whether or not you plan to head to Washington to stuff yourself and watch tennis this summer, you’ll also want to schedule in a trip to the Alberta Open, where you might just see some local celebrity chefs from MealKraft on location!
