2018 Birmingham National Wheelchair Championships

Athletes from across the country travelled to Calgary for the Birmingham National Wheelchair Championship from Nov 22-25, 2018 at the OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Centre.

Representing Alberta at Birmingham – one of the biggest and most important wheelchair tennis events in Canada – was: Zachary Madell, Frances Miller, Colin Mitchell, Jeffrey Mccuaig, Ross Norton, Adam Reid, Souheil Saab, Kyle Thompson, Matt Veeneman, Kevin Waldner and Laurence Zalmanowitz.

Colin Mitchell, with Doubles partner Yann Mathieu (Trois Rivières, QC), played in the semi finals against Phillippe Bédard (Bromont, QC) and Thomas Venos (BC), who went on to win the Men’s Doubles event.

Laurence Zalmanowitz achieved a 6th place finish in the Men’s Singles, while Reid finished in the top 12.

Congratulations to tournament champs Philippe Bédard (Men’s Singles) and Maude Jacques (Women’s Singles, Sherbrooke, QC).
