A giant has been sleeping in our Edmonton office.

Last year, our new staff decided to investigate an enormous package that had been looming in storage. It was the Tennis Alberta Smash Tent, waiting to be awoken. Along with it were dozens of chairs, tables, banners, scorecards, and more. Everything needed to run our own road show.

Several of the Provincial and Territorial Tennis Associations run these events throughout the summer. Executive Director Colin Latchford, who grew up in Ontario, remembers fondly: “One of my favourite days of the season was when the road show came to my club.”

This year, we dusted off the Smash Tent, filled our vehicles with equipment, and headed out for nine Tennis Alberta Road Show events. From Edmonton to Calgary, Canmore to Medicine Hat, more than 400 participants served, rallied, and smashed their way through tennis drills, games, and challenges.

The Roadshow either stood alone as its own event or complemented larger celebrations, such as Opening Night at the Calgary Tennis Club, Canada Day at Mount Pleasant Tennis Club, and the kickoff night for the Garneau Centennial Open tournament. We customized each stop to meet the needs of the club, offering Try Tennis events, group clinics, and more.

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in this year’s Roadshow, and a special shout-out to our member clubs who hosted:

  • Calgary Tennis Club
  • Canmore Tennis Club
  • Capilano Tennis Club
  • Garneau Tennis Club
  • Greenfield Tennis Club
  • Medicine Hat Tennis Club
  • Mount Pleasant Tennis Club
  • Red Deer Tennis Club
  • St. Albert Tennis Club

Your support helped make the inaugural Tennis Alberta Road Show a huge success. We’ll be back in 2026. But for now, we leave the 2025 tour in our rearview mirrors.
