Tennis Alberta continues to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, communicating with other provincial tennis organizations and Tennis Canada, and looking to the most up-to-date recommendations from the all levels of government.

As of March 25, Tennis Alberta has suspended all tennis tournaments and provincial re-groupings indefinitely.

We will continue to closely monitor the situation and communicate any changes to all stakeholders by means of social media, email and website.

Due to the postponement of programming and tournaments, which are a source of revenue for both Tennis Canada and Tennis Alberta, Tennis Alberta made the difficult decision to temporarily lay off two staff members. This decision was not made lightly. It is the Executive Committee’s view that by temporarily laying off staff, the organization will be in a stronger financial position to serve the community when we return to regular business in the future.

The positions of Technical Manager of Tournaments / Provincial Programming and Technical Manager of High Performance / Junior Player Development have been suspended. We continue to work to ensure there is minimal service disruption to our membership and clubs during this time. Tennis Alberta can be reached by contacting admin@tennisalberta.com or leaving a voicemail at 780-415-1661 that will be returned as soon as possible.

We encourage all to continue to practice physical distancing and help flatten the curve. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the court as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Peter Ogilvie
Executive Director
