This past weekend, Edmonton Junior Tennis Society (EJTS) hosted its first-ever EJTS ParticipACTION event at the Kinsmen Sports Centre. Sixty-five kids, ages 4-16 attended, played tennis, and got active. EJTS coaches introduced kids to tennis in a fun, free two-hour workshop, supported by the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge.
“This was a great opportunity for EJTS to give back to the community. We couldn’t have done it without our sponsor, Apollonia Dental Clinic, who provided EJTS with mini tennis nets and ball bins. Special thank you to EJTS staff, volunteers and coaches who came out to support this event. With their support a new group of Edmonton children experienced a new, engaging way to stay physically active,” says Karina Trkulja, Executive Director, EJTS.
The ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge is a brand-new, annual physical activity challenge that is bringing communities together with physical activity and sport participation. At this ParticipACTION try-it event, EJTS coaches demonstrated basic ball handling and racquet skills. Older children learned to rally and played a short game.
