Tennis Alberta would like to advise our members on the latest information with respect to our sport’s relaunch strategy in the City of Calgary only with work being done in conjunction with the Government of Alberta.
The City of Calgary signed a new order (May 1, 2020) under the State of Local Emergency that permits some outdoor recreational activities, such as outdoor singles tennis, as long as 2 metres of physical distancing is maintained, and participants do not handle the same ball.
We understand that as long as these conditions are met, outdoor tennis is permitted in Calgary. We acknowledge that that recreation facilities are still closed under the Provincial Health Orders.
An update from the City of Edmonton is expected on May 7th with details to be shared as soon as possible. As previously communicated, effective April 27, The City of Edmonton is strictly following AHS restrictions and has publicly communicated that tennis courts, pickleball courts, basketball courts, volleyball courts, disc golf and premier sports fields are closed.
Stay tuned for more updates as we make them available.
