Alberta juniors traveled to Ontario and Quebec to play against the best junior tennis athletes from coast to coast at the 2023 Outdoor Fischer Junior National Championships. Tennis Alberta congratulates all athletes who participated for representing the province well.

U18 Doubles Wins

Alberta U18 athletes dominated in doubles. First seed Adam Faragcao, with partner Stephane Kamendje (QC), took the U18 Boys Doubles title. Gianna Oboniye, with partner Raphaelle Leroux (QC), won Girls U18 doubles. Oboniye and Leroux have had positive tournament results playing together at ITF junior events.  

U12 Success

Leading at the U12 Junior Nationals, Matthew Popa, with partner Ilya Sherifali (ONT), was U10 Boys Doubles finalist. Matthew also placed third in U12 Boys Singles.

Notable Junior Nationals performances include:

  • Sara Kostic was a U16 Girls Doubles Semi-Finalist with partner Isabella Marton (ONT)
  • Adam Faragcao placed fourth in U18 Boys Singles
  • Karina Berska placed fourth in U12 Girls Singles
  • Elicia Lin received the U14 Sportsmanship Award and placed third in U14 Girls Singles
