We’ve grown our team to better serve our members and strengthen Alberta’s tennis community in 2025 and beyond.

The Tennis Alberta team has nearly doubled since last year, now with six full-time staff and one part-time staff member. This growth means we can offer even more support to players, events, facilities, and programs across the province, all while maintaining smooth and efficient operations. Meet our newest team members: Adrian Court, Heather Powers, and Charlie Gibson. Each brings a unique skill set, valuable experiences, and an injection of energy into the organization.

Adrian Court | Manager, Player Development and Competitions

Before joining Tennis Alberta, Adrian was the Assistant Tennis Professional at the Calgary Winter Club and Tennis Director at the Edgemont Club. He earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where he played #1 singles and doubles, becoming the NCAA Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) doubles champion.

With over 25 years of coaching experience, Adrian has made a significant impact on the growth of tennis in Alberta through his roles as a Tennis Professional, Alberta Provincial Team Coach, and Course Facilitator. He’s developed countless high-performance athletes at his clubs, many of whom have received tennis scholarships in the USA.

“I’m so excited to be part of Tennis Alberta and reconnect with the amazing tennis community in the province. In my new role, I’ll be working hard to introduce more young players to competitive tennis and help them grow, all while having a great time.”
– Adrian Court

Adrian will be focused on player development programs, including U10/U12 Development, Junior Nationals, and Canada Games, as well as competitions, including Rogers First Set, Community Tennis Leagues, and other tournaments.

She’s passionate about inspiring young athletes, building future leaders, and promoting sports participation, youth development, and women in athletics. Heather looks forward to expanding tennis opportunities and engaging with communities across the province.

“I’m excited to bring my passion for promoting active living to Tennis Alberta. Sports like tennis provide people with the chance to challenge themselves, both physically and mentally, leading to higher self-esteem and motivation. On a community level, tennis encourages social interaction, bringing together people of all backgrounds, ages, and skill levels to build a sense of belonging. When you’re part of a community that values staying active, people inspire each other to maintain healthy habits, creating healthier environments and improving quality of life for everyone.”
– Heather Powers

Heather is assessing the tennis programs offered by municipalities across Alberta, identifying opportunities for growth. She’s in the early stages of planning Try Tennis events and Learn & Play programs to engage new players. Additionally, Heather is working on funding applications to support facilities offering inclusive, engaging, and educational tennis opportunities for children

Charlie Gibson | Administrative Assistant

Charlie holds a Certificate in Business Administration from Otago Polytechnic in New Zealand and is currently working toward a Bachelor of Commerce at MacEwan University. She’s passionate about charitable work, having helped organize the Terry Fox Run in Canmore and contributed to fundraising efforts for the Canadian Mental Health Foundation.

Based in Edmonton, Charlie serves as Tennis Alberta’s part-time Administrative Assistant, helping streamline our growing operations by supporting accounting and administrative tasks.

“An active lifestyle isn’t just about movement—it’s about building happier, healthier societies. Staying active is so important for our physical and mental well-being, and when communities stay active together, they create connections and support. I’m thrilled to join a team that shares this value and works toward promoting an active lifestyle for all.”
– Charlie Gibson

Charlie is focused on creating training manuals for administrative staff and improving inventory management. As operations gear up, she’s dedicated to ensuring Tennis Alberta’s processes run smoothly and efficiently.
